About
It's August 15, 1951. As Tom Riley, a New Jersey firefighter and National Guardsman, you are charged with saving New York City and the whole United States from the invasion of an extraterrestrial force, the Chimeran, rescuing your caught relatives in the meantime. This is the first time the Chimera, dreadful abhorrent-looking beings coming from another world, are invading America; which places the events in a time in-between Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. Enemies can be destroyed by gunshots (from a range of assorted weaponry totaling to eight weapons) and melee attacks; there are also different bullets, some are able to break through walls for instance.
In addition to dual sticks and shoulder buttons, it is possible to make use of the front touch screen (to melee, interact with the environment, lock Tom's aim on one of the foes, utilize weapons at the fullest of their possibilities in a secondary firing mode) and the rear touch pad (Tom will run if that's dabbed twice), thus employing PS Vita's distinct control system possibilities.
Resistance: Burning Skies is divided into two unlinked game modes: the single-player adventure and the online multiplayer game, the latter of which is unrelated to the plot of the game, relying on three game modes (deathmatch, deathmatch team, survival) which can take place in six maps. All the single-player campaign weapons may be unlocked as the player heightens his level by success in battle. Multiplayer is unlocked through a single-use online pass.
