About

Nine years later, Ready 2 Rumble: Revolution continues the arcade-style Ready 2 Rumble boxing game series. One minute and a half separate the time of boxers' arrival in the fighting arena (welcomed by fireworks) and the «Fight!» moment. The fighting interface offers varied possibilities as regards dodging and blocking attacks, as well as attacking. Offensive options include standard punches, uppercuts, roundhouses and power moves, each tied with a gesture of the player: everything is in fact done uniquely by the Nunchuk and waggling the Wii Remote. Performing the right actions timely is rewarded by the game adding a star to a meter: when it is full, Rumble Mode is entered, getting herculean strength.

Boxers skills are defined by three parameters: power, speed and defense. They develop following from how well the player does in some training minigames. Game modes are Arcade, Quick Fight (versus the CPU or another player), Championship, Team Fight, Tournament, Create a Boxer (items are unlocked gradually by reaching achievements) and Mini Game (to develop one's boxer's skills). A tutorial and a register of records are also available. Options allow choice regarding the number of rounds (from 1 up to 12), round duration (from a minimum of 30 seconds to 3 minutes), maximum number of knockdowns (from 1 to 6), level of difficulty (there are five) and handicaps for either player.

Boxers are imitations of renowned people from the show in facial features, while their names (Syphon Cruel, Kaiser Hong, Stoney Rigatoni — of obvious Italian descent —, Dragon Chew, et alii) are suggestive of their origin or related to their body shape. Secret fighters are unlockable by completing the Championship Mode.
