Radical Radial

Radical Radial is a top-down driving game combined with a vertically scrolling shoot-em-up. It has similarities to Data East's earlier Mad Aliens but with a greater emphasis on driving. You control a tire, which is radically equipped with a gun and can jump over obstacles. Your goal is to navigate through various stages without crashing.

Each stage consists of two courses. In the first, or alien course, you are traversing a strange landscape while attacked by flying enemies and having to avoid strategically placed boulders. Points are scored by shooting aliens or collecting bonuses. The second, or highway, course takes place on a busy road. There are futuristic cars that frequently change lane, emergency vehicles that clear their path by knocking cars out of the way, and dead vehicles just lying in the middle of the road. You don't have a gun in this round, but just have to overtake all of the cars without crashing. Completing both courses takes you to a bonus round, which allows you to collect points while avoiding non-fatal obstacles.
