About

QB-3 was a planned vector-based fixed-screen twin-stick shooter by Rock-Ola for the arcade. You play as a shooter that has been transported to the surface of a cube. You can move between faces by running into an edge, and the cube will rotate so that face is shown on screen. The cube is populated by a range of dangerous enemies such as flyers, squirters and poppers, and you have to shoot all of the creatures on the cube before your time runs out.

There are a few more minor details. Red edges cannot be traversed until all of the enemies on that face have been destroyed. Also, some faces have dollar signs representing bonuses. These bonuses will be destroyed if you shoot them, but collecting them will double the points for shooting any additional enemies on the current face. Collecting six bonuses, or reaching 20,000 points will award you with an extra life.

The game development went as far as public testing with a handful of machines, but due to lack-lustre results the game was cancelled.
