About
Pokémon Duel is a strategic board game based on Kaiyodo's Pokémon Trading Figure Game. The aim of the game is to either land on the opponent's Goal space, or remove all their Pokémon from play. Pokémon figures may move as many tiles per turn as they have Move Points, and may fight an opponent's Pokémon that is on an adjacent space. The outcome of a battle is determined by a spinner. Support cards and level-up bonuses can be used to augment your own Pokémon's attacks.
In-game currency can be used to obtain new figures. Diamonds can be spent on a gacha mechanic that gives one or two figures at random, while Material can be used to directly purchase a figure of the player's choosing. While both can be earned in-game, additional Diamonds are available through microtransactions.
A story mode sees the player competing in the Pokémon Figure Game World Tournament alongside their AI partner Carlo. The player character and their friends, Luca and Sharon, are eventually drawn into a plot concerning the influential Roger Family.
