About
Pokémon Breakdown Blast is a Pokémon-themed game based on the game of the same name. Colored blocks are stacked together in a large rectangle, and the goal is to clear as many as possible. Clicking on a fromation of adjacent same-colored blocks clears them. When blocks are cleared, the blocks stacked on top of them fall, potentially making more formations. The more blocks on a formation, the higher the score awarded when they are cleared. if an entire column is cleared, the blocks on the smaller side are dragged to the larger side. The player must be careful which blocks to clear, as it is possible to complete a level with blocks left as a result of non-adjacent colors. Any blocks left at the end of a level subtract ten points each from the overall score. There are 15 levels total. The first 5 levels are Turtwig/Snivy-themed, the next 5 Piplup/Oshawott-themed, and the last 5 Chimchar/Tepig-themed. Each different Pokémon acts as a chapter of sorts. When a five-level chapter is started, there are only yellow, green, and red blocks. Later, blue blocks are added. Also, each five-level chapter, the blocks get smaller and more numerous, making the game more difficult.
When the game was first released, it was Diamond & Pearl themed, and featured Turtwig, Piplup, and Chimchar. It was later updated in 2011 to be Black & White themed, and features Snivy, Oshawott, and Tepig.
