About
Pilotwings Resort is a flight simulation game that takes place on the Wuhu Island already known from Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus. It uses the Mii character the user has created in the Mii Maker on the Nintendo 3DS. The player can explore the island, initially by plane, hang glider and rocket belt with other aircraft unlocked later in the game, in either Free Flight Mode or Mission Mode. Each vehicle has its own unique controls and offers unique challenges
In Free Flight Mode, the player can visit unique landmarks and collect diorama's of planes and monuments or balloons and stunt rings. The more items are collected, the more time the player is given to explore, gradually increasing the range of the island that is available. In Mission Mode, the player earns stars for completing goals such as flying through hoops, landing the aircraft in an exact spot or shooting targets. The better the player meets the parameters, the more stars are earned, up to three stars per mission. The stars add up towards a new rank, starting with Training, then Bronze, Silver, Gold and finally Platinum
It is possible to take in-game photos and save them to the 3DS photo album so they can be viewed outside the game and shared with others. It was a launch title in all regions except Japan and Oceania. The game is a sequel (or 'three-dimensional update', as Nintendo says) to Pilotwings on the SNES and Pilotwings 64 on the Nintendo 64.
