Orpheus

Orpheus is a 1-player arcade game telling the story of the famed Greek poet as he descend into Hades in search of his lost wife Eurydice.

The player controls Orpheus in his vessel as he sails across the river Styx to gather five golden harps and return them to the other side. The craft can be rotated left or right, and Orpheus can throw a discus directly forwards. The current of the river pulls the vessel to the left of the screen, and Orpheus can only move upstream by paddling against the current, or slightly to the north or south. The ship will move rapidly to the left of the screen. Orpheus can only gather one harp at a time, and must return it to the shores of the bottom of the screen.

Orpheus contains seven progressively more difficult screens. The player must avoid rocks and other dangers in the stream. They must also avoid sea serpents, logs, skulls, and other aquatic dangers from Greek mythology.
