About

Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas is a single-player action game with role-playing elements.

The story follows a young boy who awakens to find his father gone, leaving behind only a mysterious notebook and a necklace. Driven by a desire to find his missing parent, the boy sets out to uncover the secrets of the Uncharted Seas and confront the legendary sea creature known as Oceanhorn. His journey takes him across a chain of islands filled with ancient ruins, mechanical guardians, and traces of a long-lost civilization. Along the way, he learns about the world’s history and the curse that binds it to the monster he seeks.

Gameplay is presented from an isometric perspective and combines exploration, combat and puzzle solving. Players travel between islands that act as semi-open hubs, each featuring dungeons, treasure chests, hidden passages and environmental puzzles. Combat focuses on sword-and-shield mechanics, supported by a small selection of spells and throwable items such as bombs and arrows. Enemies range from simple creatures to large bosses that require timing and pattern recognition to defeat. Many puzzles involve moving blocks, flipping switches or activating mechanisms to unlock new rooms and shortcuts within dungeons.

Progression is based on acquiring tools and magical relics that grant new abilities, allowing access to previously unreachable areas. Players can collect hearts and coins by defeating enemies or breaking objects, while experience points earned from exploration and combat increase the hero’s Adventurer Level, improving health and stamina. Sailing between islands functions as a light rail-shooter segment in which the player fires projectiles at mines, monsters and crates while controlling the ship’s direction along a set course.
