Ōban Star-Racers

Ōban Star-Racers is a futuristic racing game based on the French-Japanese animated series of the same name. In the game you can play as one of five selectable racers (Molly, Prince Aikka, Colonel Toros, Groor, and Para-dice) and face of in 1-on-1 races against either an AI opponent or the ghost of another player. During a race your racer accelerates automatically, and you have to use the arrow keys to manoeuvre your craft, the space bar to slow down, and ctrl to activate your hyperdrive. Completing races will reward you with Mech Points which can be used to upgrade your racer's speed, agility, acceleration, and the number of hyperdrives you have.
