About

In the future and across space, humanity has been forced to live on whatever planets it can. Dan and his mother live on a hot sand planet, barely capable of supporting life where clean water is scarce and has to be transported from Earth. Conflict between humans and aliens have resulted in the water supplies being seized from the humans. When Dan's mother starts feeling ill, Dan embarks on a quest to leave his home and acquire some clean water to make her well again. Along the way he will encounter several aliens and find the secret of the desert planet.

Ness no Hoshi is a 2D fighting game with 3D models, and a 1st-person adventure game interface is used to move and explore the world between fights. Dan moves the viewpoint camera around each area in 3D to explore. Like a dungeon crawler, the player faces one direction and can change their orientation and move forwards or back. They can search the direction they are currently facing to look for items or talk to characters. However random monster encounters can occur in which case the game switches to a side-view fighting game where the player can perform punches, kicks and combos against the opponent to win. While there is no actual XP, defeating enemies can affect the player's heath max as well as drop various items; such as equipment and potions.
