About
Ming's Challenge is a 1-player arcade shooter for the Apple II.
Ming, evil incarnate, a hellish entity who by comparison makes Hitler, Stalin, Tiberius, Torquemada, Ivan the Terrible, and the Devil himself look like candystripers. He has challenged you to survive. Can you?
The player controls a small ship on the bottom of the screen which travels horizontally and fires vertically upwards. Deathships, fast moving bouncing vessels careen about the screen. If the player shoots these, they go into suspended animation and are frozen on the screen. Two active Deathships are present at all times. Claymen pose a constant threat, with a new ship appearing as soon as an old one is destroyed. Cyclops are an ovoid ball with a single rotating dark point. They fire towards the player, and destroy any deathtraps in the way, causing the player to lose points.
On later levels, a black hole opens up beneath the player, and any Deathtraps which fall into here will cause the player to lose points.
The player starts with 3 ships, and when all are lost it's game over.
