About

Mewgenics! is a tactical strategy game with roguelike elements. Set in the rural setting of Boon County, the game combines turn-based tactical combat with long-term progression through cat breeding and life simulation systems. Gameplay is structured around two interconnected phases: tactical combat and home-based breeding and management. In combat, players assemble a squad of cats, each assigned a distinct class such as fighter, tank, mage, or healer, and send them on procedurally generated missions. Battles take place on grid-based, isometric maps where positioning, environmental factors, and ability synergy play a central role. Each cat can move, activate abilities, and benefit from passive effects, with encounters influenced by terrain features, weather conditions, and interactive objects.

The combat system emphasizes experimentation and mastery, offering a large pool of abilities and items that create tactical scenarios. Cats can suffer lasting injuries during combat, including permanent stat penalties or mutations, and death carries meaningful consequences, such as the permanent loss of rare items. Successful missions allow cats to gain experience and improve their capabilities, contributing to the long-term strength of the player's roster.

Between runs, surviving cats return to a persistent home hub where breeding becomes the primary form of progression. Cats can mate to produce offspring that inherit traits, abilities, and genetic mutations from their parents. Strategic breeding allows players to refine bloodlines over multiple generations, while inbreeding introduces both powerful mutations and detrimental defects. As time progresses, cats age and eventually die.
