Meat Boy

Meat Boy is a fast platform game starring a bloody piece of meat. His girlfriend Bandage Girl has been kidnapped by Dr Fetus and he needs to rescue her in many environments. The game is split up in four distinct environments with a lot of levels each. To complete a level Meat Boy needs to reach Bandage Girl. Levels are very small, sometimes even on a single screen, but filled with hazards such as blades, lava, salt, fire, crumbling tiles and spikes. Meat Boy can cling to walls to wall jump and slide down as well. Levels can be completed quickly but often require multiple tries to find the correct path as Meat Boy dies right away.

Not all levels need to be completed to progress. Sets are unlocked gradually and only a specific amount needs to be completed to move on to a new set. In addition Meat Boy can collect bandages to unlock secrets such as new characters (one of the knights from Castle Crashers for instance). Players can design custom levels and share them with other players through an export code.

Many of the game's basic elements return in the commercial game Super Meat Boy by the same developers.
