About

Massive Assault Network is a turn-based multiplayer game and strongly based on its predecessor Massive Assault. The story details a large war between the Free Nations Union and the Phantom League which spans over many planets. The player chooses one side and joins the conflict. The overall conflict has no influence of the playing experience itself, it is always a deathmatch between two players.

A match is played on a map. This map is divided into different regions - the goal is to conquer all regions. At the start of the game the player receives a few regions but does not have to occupy it at once. This means he can convert during the match seemingly neutral ground to surprise the enemy. Every faction has 13 units which are either useful on land, on water or in the air. Every round the players move their units or use them to attack.

After a round the players get points for every conquered region. These points are used to buy more units. Because of the nature of turn-based games every player has up to a week to make his moves. Similar to play-by-mail games his move gets sent to the online lobby where his opponent fetches it and so on. Of course a player can be involved in several matches played at the same time. The technical side is identical to Massive Assault but the single player mode is scaled-down to a big tutorial and death matches against the AI.
