About

Maize is a single-player first-person adventure game. The story begins when two government scientists misinterpret instructions and accidentally create sentient corn. The player arrives at a remote farm and uncovers the consequences of that mistake, navigating through fields, laboratories, and underground facilities while piecing together the mystery of how the corn came to life and what secrets lie beneath the surface. Along the way, the player is joined by Vladdy, a grumpy robotic Russian teddy bear who offers sarcastic commentary as events unfold.

Gameplay is structured around exploration, puzzle solving, and item collection. The player navigates in first person, moving through environments and interacting with objects to progress. Many puzzles require combining items or using them in specific locations, with solutions often revealed through observation of surroundings and reading scattered documents. The environments include farmland, research stations, and hidden complexes, each offering clues in the form of notes, diagrams, and other discarded evidence.

Inventory management is kept simple, with collected items automatically stored and contextually usable when needed. Progression relies on methodically exploring areas and applying items in the correct sequence rather than managing complex systems. Puzzles range from environmental obstacles to logic-based solutions, often presented with comedic overtones.
