Mahjong Soul

Mahjong Soul is a free-to-play riichi mahjong gacha game. Players can play online ranked matches or casual matches with friends. The game primarily features standard rulesets for three or four player mahjong, with durations being either east wind (1 round) or south wind (2 rounds). Other less common variations of mahjong such as, for example, a ruleset similar to American mahjong, are also offered on a timed rotation as extra game modes. Players can spectate live matches as well as save and watch replays of their previous ones. An interactive tutorial is also provided for players new to Japanese mahjong.

Microtransactions primarily include in-game premium currency which can be used to purchase entries in the game's gacha system, which awards players decorations, characters, or gifts randomly. Players can equip decorations or characters to change the look and sound of the game and represent themselves differently to others. These are cosmetic and do not affect gameplay. Gift items can be used to increase a character's bond, which will unlock voice lines that the character will say during a match. Many characters are voiced by well-known Japanese voice actors. Limited time events can include collaborations with popular anime or mahjong-related franchises.
