About
Mach Storm is a combat flight simulator. It is a spin-off of the Ace Combat series developed by its production team in conjunction with personnel who contributed to arcade rail shooters such as the Time Crisis franchise. It uses the spherical "P.O.D." dome screen cabinet design originally produced for the cancelled Starblade: Operation Blue Planet and first reused for the release of Kidō Senshi Gundam: Senjō no Kizuna.
In locations all over the world, the player fights enemy troops while piloting a COFFIN-equipped CFA-44 Nosferatu as the flight lead of Storm Squadron dubbed Storm 1. The P.O.D. responds to the user's activities by vibrating the chair in the event that the aircraft is damaged or turning on fans when flying at high speeds. A flying stick is used to move the aircraft, while a throttle control is used to accelerate and decelerate it.
The player can choose from any of the five possible missions with two credits (price varies by location). In Dogfight Mode, the player engages and destroys opposing units while flying along a predetermined path after choosing a mission. Bonuses are given by using gunfire, eliminating foes quickly, and avoiding harm. Levels will feature cinematic scenes like as buildings crumbling and aircraft flying through confined places, similar to Ace Combat: Assault Horizon's Dogfight mode.
A timed boss encounter unique to the mission being played will be triggered if it is completed successfully. The player can choose to use another credit to play a bonus round and possibly double their score if they are successful in destroying the boss. Destroying specific foes can prolong the bonus round's 60-second time limit, and each kill will fill a gauge that can be used to employ multi-lock rockets to score extra points.
