About
Letter Boxed is the second game made by the New York Times Games Expansion Team, a group founded in 2017 as part of an effort to grow the paper's online games selection. Like its predecessors Spelling Bee and the famous New York Times crossword, Letter Boxed is a letter-based game where players must create words by drawing lines between letters placed on the edges of a box. The words must be at least three letters long, consecutive letters cannot be on the same side (as in, the lines drawn cannot overlap the edges of the box). The lines can overlap each other and letters may be reused. The end of one word is always the start of the next word. To finish the box, the player must use every letter on the board at least once. The title is only available though a New York Times Games subscription, purchased separately from a regular newspaper subscription.
