LEGO Bionicle: Mask of Control is a free-to-play mobile fighting game. Based on the second generation of the Bionicle toy line, it features one-on-one battles set within the Labyrinth of Control. The app was withdrawn from digital stores following the discontinuation of Bionicle Generation 2 later in 2016, though it remains usable for players who downloaded it before removal.
The story follows the six Toa Uniters and their Elemental Creatures as they search the Labyrinth for the Mask of Control. Their quest leads to Umarak the Hunter, who steals the artifact and later dons it to become Umarak the Destroyer. A summer 2016 update expands the narrative, adding new levels and culminating in a confrontation where Ekimu helps the Toa defeat the transformed antagonist and remove the mask.
Gameplay centers on gesture-based combat against Skull Warriors, Skull Spiders, and other enemies from the Bionicle line. Players tap to attack, swipe in different directions for specific strikes, and hold to block. Timed prompts enable dodges, counterattacks, and power moves. Summoning an Elemental Creature enhances damage, while charging a special meter lets the Toa merge with its companion in a Unity Form. Random events—such as Shadow Traps or spider swarms—require rapid taps or swipes to escape. Victories award Crystal Shards, used to unlock skills like improved health, faster summoning, or extended Unity time.
At launch, the roster included Tahu, Lewa, and Pohatu across 15 stages. The June 2016 update added Kopaka, Onua, and Gali, raised the total to 30 stages, and introduced Umarak’s Destroyer form as the ultimate boss. Three difficulty tiers—blue (easy), purple (normal), and red (hard)—govern encounters.
