About

Le Mans 24 is a racing game based on the famous Le Mans race. The races take place in real time, with 24 in-game hours equal to 10 minutes, which sets it apart from other SEGA racing games. In addition to having a certain amount of time to finish the race, players can increase their earnings by finishing a lap of the circuit or passing other vehicles. Similarly, the timer is deducted when you pass another vehicle. Even if there are no players, the race goes on if it runs out. The player has the option to pick up where they left off by inserting another credit. Six players can be accommodated by connecting up to three twin cabinets. Compared to other racing games of its time, it is also more realistic due to it simulating tire wear, a day/night cycle, and rain effecting how the cars handle.

There are six playable cars available; the Nismo GTR LM, Ferrari F40 GTE (also seen in fellow Sega Model 3 arcade racer SEGA Super GT, McLaren BWM - F1 GTR, Porche 911 GT1, Sauber C9 - Mercedes, and Mazda 787B. Two secret cars can be unlocked with codes: the Porche 917, and a small low riding buggy driven by Sonic the Hedgehog.
