Krakels ABC: Stava

Krakels ABC: Stava is an educational game for children, focusing on the spelling of Swedish words, for an age group of 6-8 years.

The game is the fourth of six in the Krakels ABC game series, which is based on characters from a series of children's books by Lennart Hellsing and Poul Ströyer. In this title, you are guided by the character Kusin Vitamin, in three spelling mini-games located on & around the waterfront of the fictional town Näppelunda, the home town of the books' main characters.

The first spelling game location is a warehouse with shipping containers; the letters on the labels have fallen off, and the player is required to recreate the correct word on the box label, with a drawing showing the box content to help. Clicking on the box image will speak the word, clicking on a single letter gives the sound of the letter.

The second location is a radio station to which a submarine captain is saying words who are textually garbled in reception, the player is required to sort the mixed letters into words; initially the words have image clues in addition to the non-garbled spoken word from the captain - but after a while the images are omitted, and you have to guess the word without any clues.

The third location is an old prison where prisoners have scribbled patterns similar to simple crosswords, where the player gets a single starting word, and image clues to the missing words. The image clues are also spoken when clicked on.

The three minigames can be played in any order, and the player can alternate from one to another without losing their progress. For each of the three games, a three-part progress bar is progressively filled in after a number of words have been correctly entered, and when all the three bar sections are complete, two extra tools are enabled in the game: one is a simple sign-making tool with a printer function, the other is a notebook intended for writing your own stories.
