Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge

Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge is a single-player life simulation and management game. The player takes on the role of a caretaker who restores a wetland environment while creating a sanctuary for frogs. Set in a natural landscape of ponds, streams, and vegetation, the player’s goal is to attract, raise, and document a wide range of frog species while maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.

The main gameplay loop involves cultivating habitats by planting vegetation, managing water, and arranging natural features. Each frog species requires specific environmental conditions to appear, such as certain plants, water levels, or food sources. Captured frogs can be bred and released to diversify the population, while new arrivals expand the player’s collection log.

Progression is tied to unlocking more species, restoring larger sections of the wetland, and expanding the refuge with additional plants and decorative elements. A photo mode allows players to take snapshots of frogs once they appear, adding them to a compendium that tracks each species’ traits and requirements. Currency and resources earned through care and exploration are used to fund further upgrades to the environment.
