About
Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage is a rhythm game.
It takes place in fictionalized versions of Tokyo and Yokohama, and features episodic stories following groups of musically-inclined Characters and the problems in their lives, which are resolved with the assistance of the player, Hatsune Miku and her friends — famous Virtual Singers who sing songs from all over the world. These Singers reside in a space between worlds, awaiting their time to move into mysterious universes separate from mundane reality, called "SEKAI", born out and representative of the feelings of a given character, who uses a special "Untitled" song to enter it. Accordingly, the Singers' outfits differ uniquely for each SEKAI.
The player may navigate to different areas of the fictionalized urbanity, or use the interface buttons, to access various functions, including "Story" and "Shows", the two main modes of gameplay, which are mostly separate from each other. The game's progression centers on leveling-up the musical groups, to unlock the level-gated story episodes. Gachapon mechanics and a login-incentive system serve to obtain intermediate-currencies, apparel, as well as alternate versions of characters.
