Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 7 is an otome game with light turn-based RPG elements in the Harukanaru Toki no Naka de series. The story follows Nanao Amano, a modern-day high school student who is transported to a fantasy version of Japan’s Sengoku period. She is revealed to be the Ryūjin no Miko (Priestess of the Dragon God), chosen to purify the land and mediate conflicts between rival factions led by historical figures such as Tokugawa Ieyasu and Sanada Yukimura.

Gameplay alternates between branching visual novel sequences, character interactions, and strategic combat. Players progress through a chapter-based structure, making dialogue choices that affect relationships with eight male companions known as the Hachiyō. Between scenes, players navigate a regional map to advance the plot, trigger events, and encounter enemy spirits. Battles use a semi-automated turn system in which party members act automatically, while the protagonist can issue commands such as healing, encouragement, or using spiritual techniques to support her allies. Elemental affinities and party composition influence battle outcomes, while victories contribute to purification progress and strengthen bonds with allies.

The game features multiple character routes with individual endings, a final scenario unlocked after completing all paths (for a total of 10 endings), and an affection-based event system that determines story progression. Also present are quality-of-life options such as event logs, fast-forward functionality, and the ability to skip previously cleared battles, encouraging replay across different routes.
