About

Hacker Evolution: Untold is a hacking game and the follow-up to Hacker Evolution. In 2008 the economic markets are disturbed drastically: both crude oil and gold reach a record price, while the Dow Jones index drops significantly. Technological singularity is reached where computers are able to improve themselves with their own artificial intelligence. The world is turned to chaos and wars are started. The player once again assumes the role of hacker Brian Spencer who intervenes only using his computer. He worked for the company that started it all and is now framed for a crime he did not commit. He will attempt to control the technological revolution and clear his name.

Just like the original game it is played entirely by typing in commands. The interface is also similar in design. The text window is at the bottom, the additional windows are on the right, and the top holds a map with available servers and also shows the progress of transfers. There are over 20 commands and tools to use as Spencer needs to scan servers, look for ports and vulnerabilities, launch tools, steal money, evade traces and delete logs. Money can be used to delay traces for a longer time and to acquire new parts such as more memory, a faster processor, a firewall and a faster modem. Next to the tutorial there are nine levels to complete. A later update adds an expansion pack called Flight Zero for free. The game includes an editor where custom scenarios can be designed.
