Grim Facade: Sinister Obsession is a hidden object game with mini games and puzzles. It is played with the mouse, has music and some voice acting as well as an auto-save function. It can be played in both windowed and full screen modes.

Signor Bernardo Conti's wife passed away. After a suitable period of mourning, he has let it be known that he is looking for a new wife and all interested young ladies should apply to him at his villa. In this game the player takes the role of a detective who is contacted by the maid of the household, she claims to have evidence that some of the applicants have been murdered. Our job is to investigate if this is true, and if so apprehend the killer.

The game differs from the standard hidden object adventure game in two ways. Most games have a hint option that slowly recharges but it can be used many times. In this game the player collects fans that are hidden in the game, with each fan granting one hint.

The other way this title differs from other games of the same kind is the collection of coins. In many games, coins, tokens and other objects are collected and count towards in-game achievements. In this game the player collects coins which are used in an in-game shop to buy tools that are needed to make progress in the game.
