About
GRID is an arcade racing game based on the console/PC game with the same name. The game has two singleplayer modes, quick race and championship, and also offers multiplayer races if multiple cabinets are linked together. Quick races can be played by up to six players who compete in one of four tracks over multiple laps. The game has a total of twelve cars which are split into groups of four. Each group of cars is limited to three of the game's total of nine tracks. The game can be played with automatic or manual transmission.
The championship is a singleplayer mode played over a sequence of tracks against AI opponents. It has three tiers and in each, the player chooses one of up to three tracks which have different difficulties. The aim of each race is to finish with the top three positions to progress to the next tier. The race has to be completed before time runs out. By completing laps additional time is added to the countdown.
The tracks available for each tier are as follows:
Tier 1: Washington, San Francisco and Detroit
Tier 2: Milan, Long Beach and Nurburgring
Tier 3: Spa Francorchamps and Okutama
Nurburgring and Okutama are only unlocked if the player has finished in first place on the previous tier.
