Goodbye Deponia

Goodbye Deponia is the third and final part of the Deponia trilogy and directly continues where Chaos on Deponia ended. The player takes control over the chaotic inventor Rufus - an egocentric person with little regard for people around him - who wants to escape the garbage dump planet Deponia. He also continues his fight against the Organon authorities which want to destroy Deponia and learns more about his origins.

While the first half of the game follows the usual structure - Rufus is in a confined area with one or two dozen screens and works on a set of goals - it changes during the second half. Rufus produces two clones of himself and then the game has a similar structure as Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle: each Rufus is in his own scenario and has to solve his own puzzles. The player can freely switch characters and, depending on the progress of the protagonists, exchange items. The puzzles include all three usual variants in point-and-click adventures: inventory based puzzles (Rufus searches the scenes, picks up items and combines them with other items in the environment or his inventory), dialogue puzzles and logic puzzles (for example a machine which needs to be repaired). Help functions include a hot spot button (shows all items and exits which Rufus can interact with) and the possibility to skip the logic puzzles.
