About
Gionbana is a digital version of three popular two-player card games played with Japanese hanafuda cards: Koi-Koi, Hana-Awase, and Oicho-Kabu. It differs significantly from Nichibutsu's earlier arcade release of the same title. The game offers three main play modes:
- Free Battle mode lets the player choose one of 16 different characters, adjust the rule and scoring settings, and play any of the three games against the computer.
- Tournament mode tasks the player with defeating a series of five computer opponents in either Koi-Koi or Hana-Awase.
- Sugoroku mode is a turn-based board game for two to four players where each player moves around the board by rolling a die. Each space causes various events or mini-games to occur that affect the player's score or the flow of the game.
