About

Ganso Family Mahjong is a 4-player riichi mahjong game and a revival of the Family Mahjong series. The game is set in the Nichibutsu Mahjong Club building in Osaka, Japan, where skilled mahjong players gather. The building comprises 12 floors in total, which can be freely visited:

  • The ground floor is the reception area, where the player can save or load their game and create a new character.
  • Floor 2 is a free battle area, where any of the 12 computer opponents can be challenged at mahjong.
  • Floors 3-7 are various themed areas, each with their own set of opponents to defeat.
  • Floors 8-10 are league play areas, containing the most difficult mahjong challenges and opponents. These floors must be challenged in order, and clearing them is the ultimate goal of the game.
  • The basement floors contain a mahjong training area, and the manager's office where information about the floors and opponents can be learned.
