About

G String is a singleplayer first-person shooter set in a grim future where Earth has been devastated by war, pollution, synthetic plagues and climate change. Much of the remaining population lives in the North American Union, the last remaining superpower and a police state which maintains a close grasp on its citizens' lives. Sexbots and prostitution have become commonplace, with the commodification of women being a recurring motif. As megacorporations fight over the ruined remnants of the world, humanity stares into the face of its own oblivion. G String was originally developed as a mod for Half-Life 2 before being polished and released as a standalone game on Steam.

The player controls Myo Hyori, a teenage girl of Korean descent who is the property of Bortz Bioengineering, a corporation known for stem cell research which secretly runs a super soldier program. Bortz's experiments on Myo have given her telekinetic and pyrokinetic abilities. When fallout from a space battle breaks a hole in her training room, Myo seizes the chance to escape into the real world, where she must fend for herself against Bortz's militia, hostile gynoids, and other hazards posed by the toxic landscape outside.

Myo primarily combats enemies using weapons found throughout her travels, with her powers typically only being used to pull objects from afar or to solve environmental puzzles. The HUD of her biosuit keeps track of her health and suit power and informs her of dangers such as radiation and incoming weapons fire. Her travels take her through various environments, including decaying cityscapes, toxic rivers, secret facilities, a space station and beyond, where she discovers the role she will play in the fate of her world.
