Fresh Tracks

Fresh Tracks is a rhythm-based roguelite skiing game. Set in the mythical realm of Norwyn, the game combines high-speed downhill skiing with music-driven mechanics, light combat, and procedural progression. Players ski through environments such as forests, mountains, glaciers, and settlements while navigating obstacles, enemies, and terrain that are synchronized to the soundtrack.

Core gameplay revolves around steering, jumping, and leaning to avoid obstacles while moving downhill. Certain objects and enemies glow, indicating that they can be destroyed rather than avoided. Attacking these elements in time with the music charges special abilities tied to the player’s equipped sword. Different swords unlock over time, each providing distinct abilities such as healing or offensive boosts.

The game is structured as a roguelite journey made up of a sequence of songs. Each run presents players with a limited selection of tracks, each associated with a difficulty rating and a reward. Completing songs advances the run, while failure results in restarting the journey, though some unlocked equipment and progression persist between attempts. Shops and upgrade opportunities appear at set intervals, allowing players to spend collected currency on enhancements.

Boss encounters form key milestones within a run and are presented as extended, more demanding musical stages. These levels introduce additional mechanics, denser obstacle patterns, and longer song durations. Difficulty settings primarily affect survivability rather than altering the core gameplay patterns.

Narrative elements are delivered through Mythics, god-like figures who accompany the player throughout a run. Each Mythic provides passive bonuses and contextual narration. The story is conveyed episodically between songs, with additional Mythics unlocking as the player progresses. Music is central to the experience, with a soundtrack spanning multiple genres including pop, rock, hip-hop, and metal. Each track is paired with bespoke level design that reflects the tone and rhythm of the song. The soundtrack dynamically responds to player actions.
