Lieutenant Atticus, the army's klutz, is stuck with guard duty during what should be the final battle in the war with the Horronym. In a shed he finds a prototype mech, "GRenaDOS", and sneaks it into the sewers for a bit of target shooting on some snakebats. Down there he unexpectedly encounters the Horronym enemy and discovers they are making a final sneak attack that could turn the tide!

Explosionade is an action platformer with some puzzle elements. All the levels are single rooms, and can be zoomed out to show the entire stage at once. The main goal of each level is to reach the hole that leads to the next, but killing enemies and picking up items will earn you points towards a highscore.

GRenaDOS is armed with a machine gun and a grenade launcher, and can hover briefly using its jetpack if you hold down jump. Grenades will bounce if you hold down the button, turning sticky once you release it. You also have a shield that can reflect enemy bullets back at them, or be used to bounce the mech for higher jumps. GRenaDOS runs on gold, so picking up gold bars will both recharge your health and give you plenty of points.

The game can be played single-player or with two players in local co-op. There are three different difficulty levels to choose from.
