The young warrior Shot finds himself high in the mountains. Apparently he has been asleep for several days. He meets a young woman who explains to him that his sword has led him to their land. Shot was always determined to avenge his country, which was devastated by insect-like monsters. However, he realizes that his destiny calls him for even greater deeds. He must explore the mysterious realm and find a way to restore peace once and for all.
Egria is a Taiwanese-made role-playing game and a direct sequel to Guardian's Sword, continuing the story of Shot after the events described in its ending. Visually, the game resembles its predecessor, utilizing 2D hand-painted and pre-rendered graphics for characters and locations. The game's world consists of interconnected screens with fixed camera angles, without an overworld. Battles are triggered randomly and are turn-based at core. The real-time element is different from the one featured in the two previous installments of the series: the game pauses when the player accesses the menu, but the actual attack has to be executed in real-time by clicking a mouse button at the right moment. Game structure, character growth system and abilities follow a traditional Japanese-style template.
