About

Drunken Robot Pornography is a first-person shooter set in small arenas where you fight giant robots (Titans) who bring the bullet-hell concept to a first-person view, and large swarms of smaller enemies. The protagonist is Reuben Mastumoto. He made the robot bartender Tim at his favourite bar self-aware. Tim burned down the bar and turned all the robot staff into his personal army to attack Boston. The game carries a humorous tone and the arenas are bright, colourful environments.

The game consists of a series of levels unlocked gradually with a specific objective. You need to reach a certain score without dying, defeat a specific Titan or clear the level in a set amount of time. The levels often have a vertical design with many platforms, bridges, towers and ledges. The Titans often take up a large part of the screen and attack with all sorts of bullets, rockets and lasers. To defeat them you need to target the highlighted parts to tear off the armour. Ruben's controls consists of moving around and shooting. He can use a jetpack for a limited time to reach higher areas and there are also jump pads to launch him. There are various pick-ups in the environment, such as gears and martinis for additional points. There are also four stackable weapon modifiers that are active for a limited amount of time. These include triplefire (three bullets instead of one), rapidfire (twice the firing rate), splinterfire (split bullets) and heavyfire (more damage per bullet). Other pick-ups introduces a secondary weapon that can be used only once, such as a robot companion. The HUD shows the score, the remaining time and next to the reticule there are two vertical bars: boost (blue) and health (red).

Other types of levels and game modes are unlocked along the way, such as a retro 2D arcade game, a Titan survival mode, or the Cocktail Interpretation challenge where you cannot shoot and have to carry bottles of alcohol into an endzone to score points. Through its integration with Steam workshop and the in-game editor, players can design and share new Titans and new arenas. Through the options and older Dejobaan game can be launched, included with the game: the 3D arena shooter Inago Rage that inspired this game. Separate folders include the music from Inago Rage in OGG format and concept sketches for Drunken Robot Pornography.
