About
Disney’s The Lion King 1 ½ is a single-player and multiplayer side-scrolling platform game. The game retells events from The Lion King from the perspective of Timon and Pumbaa, whose antics run parallel to Simba’s rise to become king. Levels take place across locations familiar from the film, including the Pride Lands, the jungle, and the Elephant Graveyard, but with a focus on the duo’s comic misadventures rather than Simba’s main storyline. Animated film clips are used to connect the game’s stages with the story of the direct-to-video movie of the same name.
Players can choose to control either Timon or Pumbaa, each offering a different style of play. Timon relies on agility, climbing, and puzzle-solving to reach new areas, while Pumbaa uses his strength and charge attacks to break through obstacles and defeat enemies. In the two-player cooperative mode, one player controls Timon and the other controls Pumbaa, encouraging teamwork to overcome challenges that combine their abilities.
Levels contain a mix of platforming, item collection, and light puzzle-solving. Timon and Pumbaa must avoid hazards such as hyenas, falling debris, and other jungle threats while gathering collectibles that unlock bonus content. Some stages include chase sequences or specific objectives that emphasize the duo’s contrasting skills, requiring careful switching between characters when playing solo.
