Derby Dogs

Derby Dogs is a title available on the Wii through the WiiWare store.

Derby Dogs falls roughly in line with other recent virtual pet titles like Nintendogs for the Nintendo DS and Kinectimals for the Xbox 360. In it, players raise and breed dogs, and care for them with the typical feeding and exercise routines. A shop in the game offers dog houses and special meals, as well as the ability to "rent" other dogs.

A primary focus here is to raise and train the dogs for competitive racing, and while they can be trained, they can also be bred. Competitive racing can be played simultaneously by up to eight players online. The view, like other virtual pet titles, is the point of view of the player or "trainer," and gameplay typically involves Wii Remote motion controls for the menu navigation and the various mini-games.
