About

Deep Under the Sky is a physics based strategy/puzzle game set on Venus. It consists of 80 levels divided over four worlds. The player controls a little jellyfish that needs to fill nests to perpetuate its species. When all nests are filled, the level is completed.

The jellyfish is a fixed position and cannot be moved. The game only uses one button for control. There is some variety to the mechanics per level, but generally three steps are followed. First, a command is used to launch offspring, with a dotted line showing the trajectory. Next, while it is a moving, a second action can be executed to give it jet speed so it is propelled forward. The speed burst only lasts for a short while and bends the trajectory in an arc when it loses its power. Finally, a third action is used to make the offspring explode, filling a nest when it is nearby. All the nests are in a different position in the level and require different timing to reach them.

There is an unlimited amount of tries per level. Later on many other game elements are introduced such as walls that need to be hit to create a passage, a magma-like substance that makes the offspring bounce and the ability to curl into a ball and roll. After completing the level the jellyfish needs to be brought to the upper part of the screen to complete the level.

Next to the nests, optionally hard to reach stars can be collected in each level. The game keeps tracks of the amount of shots and the completion time per level. The best performances can be compared on leaderboards.
