About
It is the mid-22nd century in the Dark Horizons universe when the Federated States and Eastern Confederation are in conflict over the rich resources of the east coast of the United States after a nuclear strike. In this mech shooter made with the Torque game engine, you control a Mechanized Assault Vehicle (MAV) such as an AR-16b Hunter or the ECM-74 Juggernaut tank. They are remotely piloted from control pods located halfway around the globe and contain various weapons such as plasma rifles, cannons and missiles. You can pilot a single MAV or take command of a MAV group or entire battalion.
In singleplayer you can choose from one of 4 MAVs through 3 tutorial levels plus some missions such as rescuing a fellow MAV, securing scattered waypoints, or recovering a lost power generator core. These also teach you about different multiplayer mechanics. Multiplayer is joined through a lobby with IRC chat, server list and player/faction stats. There's standard modes such as: Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Core, and Capture and Hold. Players can customize their MAV with weapons they want, and change the ratio between its armor and speed.
