Chess! was originally released as shareware under the name EdChess.
This game has the following features:* A command line parameter to play in monochrome
- Different skill settings for the AI opponent
- A board editing function so that the player can use the game to solve chess problems
- A save/load function
- The computer can optionally be allowed to reference a book of standard openings
The player can either play against the computer or watch the computer play itself.
