About

Chasing Aurora is an aerial action and racing/chasing game where players control a bird in a fairly open environment. They can move around freely in any direction, flapping the wings by rhythmically pressing a button and using gusts of wind to gain speed. Playing solo the game consists of a time trial / score attack mode on a number of tracks with a point-to-point design. Points are scored by passing barriers and gates act as a multiplier. Some environments have additional hazards such as falling rocks, water and dirt. Based on the performance a ranking of up to three stars can be achieved.

Most of the game content is geared towards local multiplayer for up to five players in three game modes. In the chase mode players attempt to grab an orb and need to keep it as long as possible through diving, evading and dodging while being chased by the other birds. To get rid of them permanently, the bird with the orb needs to move to get the other birds out of view and off the screen, which kills them. The second game mode is called hide and seek. There one player using the GamePad gets a head start and needs to hide somewhere in the level, for instance behind a tree or behind leaves. In this mode the four other players each get a separate zoomed-in view on the screen. In the final mode, freeze tag, the GamePad player needs to tag the four other players to freeze them. In the latter game mode all four birds need to stay on the same screen and therefore need to work together to help unfreeze each other. While one player used the GamePad, the others need to use the Wii Remote optionally combined with the Nunchuk.
