About

Build-a-lot 2 is a building contractor simulator, where the player constructs buildings on a city. The game interface shows a top view of the terrain, with building sites and houses, and at the bottom several tabs where the player can review objectives, hire workers and purchase building materials and blueprints.

The budget comes from house rents and random grants. To be able to start building, first the player needs to buy blueprints. Then it is necessary to purchase the land, and finally choose from the menu what building needs to be erected. There are several types: houses, shops, and industrial ones. Each building requires a certain amount of workers and material to be built.

Upgrades increase the rent and house value. Certain buildings have an effect on the surrounding houses. Industrial buildings decrease satisfaction in the neighborhood, while parks have the opposite effect. Large houses need to be repaired from time to time by the workers.

Buildings can also be sold, and pre-existing houses and land can be bought when available. The game has two modes: casual is the sandbox mode, where the player can just pick a city and build, without time constraints or objectives. The campaign has set goals and a time limit that must be observed.
