About
Bloons TD 5 is the fifth main tower defence game in the Bloons franchise. The aim is to guard the exit of a track by using several different units with different abilities. These can be upgraded in the Monkey Lab in four domains to be optimized for the situation, or the player's strategy. There are two different upgrade trees, instead of one in the previous games. Towers can also be enhanced with special abilities. Unlike similar games, the chosen upgrades are permanent, maintained across sessions and cannot be reversed.
The game has a quirky style and units are based around monkeys. New towers for this version include a ninja monkey and a sniper monkey. The enemy waves consist entirely of rows of colourful balloons (bloons), but with different abilities affecting speed or the way they explode. By progressing, experience is earned to unlock new units. This version adds a reverse mode, a cooperative mode, an extreme difficulty level, random missions, daily challenges and special missions. There are many new enemy types such as regrowth bloons and after completing a track it can be played in a freeplay mode. The game uses two currencties: Monkey Money (in-game) and NK Coins (premium).
