About
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift continues shortly after the happenings of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. It also continues the tradition that the actual happenings are only revealed while playing through the storyline of each individual character.
This versus fighter is played on a 2D plane. Two characters face each other and try to win the match (best of five). In order to win a round, the player either needs to reduce the opponent's to zero or have more health left when the timer runs out. Besides a number of standard attacks, each character also has individual special attacks (called drives) which require filling the heat gauge with actions like attacking or blocking first. Other things to consider are the new guard primer system (determines the effectiveness of defense based on evasive maneuvers and blocks), bursts (allows to perform very effective offensive or defensive maneuvers) and combos.
Compared to the predecessor, the game shares much of the graphical assets and carries over all characters except ν-No.13 who is replaced by the similar character Λ-No.11-. There are also three (Hazama, Relius Clover and Tsubaki Yayoi) new characters available to control.
