About
Ben and Ed is a platformer set in a macabre game show in which the player controls Ed, an undead who no matter how many times he dies, is continuously reassembled for the spectators' enjoyment. This game show was conceptualised when Hans Hermann, a rich and ruthless individual came across Ben, a child, and his seeming, undead friend, Ed, in a run-down neighbourhood. Hans realised that he could make a profit by using Ed as a spectacle for a game show, and in an effort to coerce Ed into participating in his game show, he kidnapped Ben and made him a feature of the game show.
The game features 26 levels that resemble obstacle courses. Some of them are bonus levels which can only be unlocked by collecting cans which are hidden throughout every level in the game. In each level, multiple deadly obstacles and traps stand in Ed's way, barring him from reaching Ben, who is always placed in a cage at the end of each level. Whenever Ed manages to complete the level and reach Ben, Ben is hoisted away in a cage towards the next level of the game show. Besides collecting cans, the player can also collect "golden Eds" which are basically a reward for completing each checkpoint in a level without getting injured. By collecting a particular number of golden Eds, the player can unlock three short mini-games which can be played apart from the main game.
