About

Batalj is a multiplayer-only, turn-based strategy game with real-time elements. Set in a sci-fi universe, the game focuses on 1v1 tactical combat between player-created squads from one of three factions: Rusters, Re-Linked, and Splicers.

Gameplay revolves around a distinctive simultaneous turn system. Each round is divided into a planning phase, where both players issue commands, and an action phase, where all moves and attacks resolve simultaneously according to initiative order. Victory is achieved either by eliminating the opponent’s units or by controlling the majority of the map’s capture points to accumulate five victory points.

Players construct custom squads by selecting one of nine hero units and combining them with up to 54 different support units, each with unique abilities and tactical roles. Heroes act as powerful anchors in battle, while supporting units offer ranged attacks, healing, or area control. Strategic positioning, anticipation of the opponent’s moves, and timing are key to success.

Matches are played on small, objective-based maps emphasizing map control and positioning over sheer destruction. Reinforcements can be deployed during spawn waves using a limited resource system, adding a layer of army management and pacing to battles.

The game features a tutorial and sandbox mode for practice, but there is no single-player campaign or offline play. It supports online matchmaking and friend battles only.
