About
Azur Lane is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up game with strategy and role-playing elements. Set in an alternate version of World War II, the game reimagines the warships of the era as cute anthropomorphic girls known as "shipgirls."
Humanity is under threat from the mysterious Sirens, an advanced mechanical alien force. In response, the major naval powers of the world have formed factions such as the Eagle Union, Royal Navy, Sakura Empire, Iron Blood, and Dragon Empery. Players command fleets of these shipgirls to battle the Sirens, as well as opposing factions.
Gameplay revolves around building and managing up to six fleets, each consisting of a front row (destroyers, cruisers) and a back row (battleships, aircraft carriers). After placing their units on a starting grid, deciding optimal formation, players engage in real-time side-scrolling battles, manually controlling movement, torpedoes, and airstrikes while the ships automatically fire their main weapons. Ships gain experience, can be leveled up, limit broken, and equipped with powerful gear to strengthen them.
Shipgirls can be housed in a customizable dorm, interacted with, and developed through relationships that affect their performance and dialogue. Other features include live PvP arena battles, large-scale event story chapters, and occasional collaborations with other franchises.
