About

Attack on Titan is a single-player and multiplayer action game with hack-and-slash and aerial movement mechanics. The story follows the events of the first season of the Attack on Titan anime and manga. Humanity lives within massive walled cities to defend itself from Titans, towering humanoid creatures that devour humans without reason. The player takes the role of characters from the Survey Corps, an elite military branch tasked with venturing outside the walls to reclaim territory and protect civilians. Missions recreate key battles from the storyline, gradually moving from the fall of Wall Maria through the counterattacks against the invading Titans.

Gameplay focuses on fast-paced combat using the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear, which allows characters to grapple onto buildings and Titans for rapid traversal. The player must maneuver around enemies to strike at weak points, most notably the nape of the neck, which is the only way to defeat them. Titans vary in size and behavior, requiring different strategies such as severing limbs to immobilize them before delivering a finishing blow. Gas and blade durability act as consumable resources, and players must resupply during missions to maintain effectiveness.

Progression is tied to mission performance and character growth. Completing objectives unlocks new equipment, materials, and abilities, which can be used to craft or upgrade gear. Each character features distinct combat styles and skills, from balanced fighters to specialists with greater mobility or damage output. Mission rankings are determined by speed, efficiency, and successful completion of side objectives, encouraging replay for higher scores and resources.

The game includes a Scout Mode, where players undertake non-story missions to expand territory, earn materials, and recruit allies. Dialogue sequences between missions provide context and allow interaction with other Survey Corps members, gradually expanding available support characters. Some missions offer branching paths or additional objectives.

Multiplayer allows cooperative play in certain modes, where up to four players can coordinate strategies to bring down larger Titan groups and share resources.
