About

Arthur's 2nd Grade is an educational game for children aged six to eight that teaches different skills based on the US curriculum for children in the second grade. It is based on the book series by Marc Brown. The game comes on two discs. The first one is based around a story of "Take Your Kids to Work Day" where children help Arthur and his friends in nine learning activities. The second disc is an activity center with 20 print and creative activities.

Examples of mini-games include guessing the missing words in the print shop from a selection of letters provided, calculating jelly beans to help an accountant, moving a car around a map by following the instructions to recognize elements and determine where to move for Crosswire Motors, measuring screws at the garage, identifying objects at the museum with Francine based on a description, preparing food trays with a healthy selection from different food groups based on patterns and so on.

Some games, such as the one at Crosswire Motors, can be played with two players taking turns. Skills that are developed include arithmetic, geography, reading comprehension, spelling, strategy, and telling the time. The activities have multiple skill levels and the children can earn certificates to print. Help messages are displayed automatically and there is an auto levelling system where the difficulty is adjusted based on the performance.
